On New Years Day 2015 Matthew Cogley, guitarist and vocalist with the band passed away suddenly. A totally unexpected turn of events that no one (no matter how close to Matt) saw coming and it has changed things forever. Matt will be forever remembered by all who met him and Failsafe formed a very important part of his lasting legacy.
A little time has passed and the band were really keen to do something positive following this tragic event and it seems unthinkable that this third album would still be missing out on a full release any longer. As such, a portion of the profit from the sales of the record will be donated to a charity by the name of CALM which helps people, predominantly young males, in need of support. A charity with a strong musical affinity that has the ability to help people in the situation that Matt found himself. Although it’s also worth saying that everyone who knew Matt knows that he certainly wasn’t outwardly ‘living miserably’ and had a very happy life.
The album is definitely the most accessible and most highly produced the band have made and we’re really looking forward to getting it out to as many people as possible. To have Dave Eringa work on the record was a dream come true for Matt and everyone in the band.
